Written in 2025 for the National Children's Brass Band, Gareth Bowman’s Emerging Light is a short concert work for Brass Band.
The music opens with a slow, richly atmospheric soundscape that evokes the gradual, delicate breaking of dawn. Following the calm introduction, the music gives way to a sudden, brilliant burst of energy. The piece abruptly shifts gears into a fast, propulsive second section, driven forward by driving rhythms and percussion. The mood changes briefly as it clouds over before a return to the bright light to finish.
